Kenya got its first look at two new devices yesterdays that Samsung unpacked yesterday. Of course, you have the Galaxy Note 7, but there was also a Tizen smartphone that is being made out to be the crux of the chaebol’s developing market bid.

Techweez got to play around with a pre-production unit of the Samsung Z2, a thick, compact phone that seems to think its of Note 5 ilk in terms of its contours.

There’s an impressive 4-inch AMOLED display and 1GB of RAM along with dual-SIM capability to boot.

Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria will be the first African countries getting the starter wave release of the Z2. As far as Techweez has been told, Kenya will get it on August 26. Much more detail will be known at a later point.
