Samsung QWERTY Slider With 720p Display Pictured For T-Mobile

By Stephen Schenck June 15, 2012, 10:54 am

Last month, we tried to unravel the mystery of Samsung's SGH-T699, a model that showed-up in one of the manufacturer's User Agent Profiles. We learned it would have a 720p display, and apparently be headed for T-Mobile, but little more. There was some speculation at the time that it might be a new version of the Galaxy Nexus for the carrier, but that didn't really resonate with us. It turns out those misgivings were justified, as the T699 has now been revealed as an upcoming QWERTY slider.

That combination of 720p and QWERTY could be pretty darn attractive, as we're not used to seeing devices with hardware keyboards include very high-res screens. Considering how small the display looks, this could make for quite the high pixel density.

The source behind this leaked pic adds some rumored specs to what we know, but we're still largely in the dark. Supposedly, the T699 will have a five-megapixel main camera, a front-facer, and an LED notification light.

Even with the presence of a 720p display, this isn't necessarily a top-tier model, and until we learn exactly what processor is under the hood, it will be hard to get a sense of where the T699 falls.

We're also not sure when to expect the T699 to launch, but it shows-up (unnamed) on a recent T-Mobile inventory leak, so it could be quite soon, indeed.
