Samsung patents “Galaxy Glass”, and it’s close to what you think

You’d think that Google would make a dent in the universe with its Google Glass project, which is currently on trial by certain people that don’t have anything better to do with $1,500, but that’s actually not the case. I’ll admit that I’m personally disturbed by people having a conversation with me and using Google Glass, since you really don’t know if they’re recording the conversation while looking at you. Still Samsung seems to find more use for the concept created by Google Glass, and its new patent envisions more uses as part of its Galaxy line-up as well.

The company has just patented the name Galaxy Glass, though the company plans to do more than just give you a heads-up display. The idea is that the glasses will use surfaces to project usage options. For example, the augmented reality can turn your hands into a keyboard you can type on, which would allow you to use your thumb to type over the rest of your fingers, or even use any surface as a keyboard as well.

Obviously a patent is not a guarantee that the service will ever reach the light of day, but would you prefer this Galaxy Glass concept over what we know from Google Glass? I actually find it to be more useful, but that’s just my opinion.
