the::unwired is reporting that Vodafone recently cancelled the HTC-manufactured Windows Mobile 940 device in favor of the Samsung i640.

The Samsung i640 is similar to the Samsung i620, which was referred to as the BlackJack Slider on our site previously. The i640 is a Vodafone design with silver trimming.

It will come with Windows Mobile 6 Standard, tri-band GSM/EDGE and single band UMTS/HSDPA, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, but no WiFi. There will be a front camera for video calls and a 2 MP camera on the back along with a hidden and sliding QWERTY keyboard in portrait mode.

No date for a UK release yet, but January is the likely date according to the::unwired.

The i620 has been reviewed here where you will find additional links for in-depth video reviews.
