We’ve been spending a fair share of time lately talking about wearables, and given their increased presence on the mobile scene this year, that’s hardly surprising. Most recently, we’ve been looking at Samsung’s Gear Fit, just one of the many new additions to the company’s selection of smartwatches and fitness trackers. Now we’re checking out invites to an upcoming Samsung event that aims to start a “conversation around health,” making us wonder what if any news about the company’s wearables might come out of it.

While we haven’t really been anticipating any big hardware launch, there are a couple devices we might hope to see. For instance, there’s been talk of a SIM-enabled Gear 2, possibly arriving as the Gear Solo. With that extra connectivity, we could see how it might be extra-useful to runner are cyclists who don’t necessarily want to lug their phones around with them.

Then there’s also that Samsung Activity Tracker that’s popped up in Europe but we haven’t seen Samsung make a big deal about just yet – perhaps this event could turn the spotlight on it for once.

But then again, this could be something very different. Maybe we’ll learn about software efforts to better take advantage of existing wearables. We’ve also heard the theory that Samsung Semiconductor’s involvement in the event could foretell news of new sensors, which would only come to the company’s phones and wearables at a future date.

Samsung’s event is scheduled for May 28, so we’ll have our answers in just under four weeks.
