Virtual reality seems to be one of the buzzwords floating around MWC 2015 this year. Just after HTC unveiled its Vive virtual reality headset made in conjunction with Valve, Samsung has debuted a new Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition made in partnership with Oculus for the newly-announced Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

The new Gear VR is meant for “extraordinary entertainment,” letting its users work with high-quality content easily. And the device itself is way nicer to wear, improving its comfort level with better ergonomics. Rounding out the list of changes, the new virtual reality headset includes USB port compatibility (it can be powered through a USB port to extend the device’s battery life), as well as a robust ecosystem with access to the Oculus store.

With this launch, it looks like the virtual reality race is really now heating up, which leads us to believe that 2015 will be one of the most exciting years yet for developments in VR technology.

The Samsung Gear VR Innovator Edition doesn’t yet have pricing or availability details available, but we will bring that information to you as we learn of it. Stay tuned for more information from the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked launch event in Barcelona, Spain, as we continue our coverage.
