When’s the last time Samsung released a product with a really cool name? When did the company even try to think outside the box and concoct an original moniker rather than attach bland Max, Pro, Active, Ace, Neo or, yes, Edge suffixes to base, established brands, as well as combine random letters with incremental digits?
Instead of racking your brains to answer that, consider the following labels – Gear Blink, Odyssey, Gear S3 Frontier. Pretty eccentric, memorable brand names, and while we’re not certain Samsung will ever actually use them, they’re at least being considered.
Samsung Gear S3 Frontier would of course designate a cutting-edge, border-pushing new smartwatch superseding the warmly received circular Gear S2 launched almost a year back. Or maybe it’ll follow in the footsteps of the Gear S2 Classic as a premium derivation of the standard Gear S3 configuration.
It’s too early for more than educated guesses, and the only sure thing remains a trademark recently registered at the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service, aka KIPRIS, aka the local USPTO equivalent. This appears to suggest the Gear S3 Frontier will come with Samsung Pay integration out the box, but again, let’s not take too much for granted.
