Samsung Gear S2 US pricing details leak: standard, classic, and 3G

Samsung’s been honing its smartwatch game for longer that most, and this year at IFA in Berlin it brought out its latest and greatest installment, the Gear S2. Beyond introducing a circular display to the company’s smartwatch lineup, the Gear S2 managed to deliver a very attractive design along with surprisingly broad smartphone support, making it one of our favorite new products to emerge from the trade show. But for as excited as we’ve been to see the Gear S2 make its retail debut, one big question still hung over the wearable: just what would it cost? We’ve heard a bit about international pricing, but Samsung’s yet to go official with any price points here in the US. This afternoon we get a preview of what to expect, as a carrier source clues us in to Samsung’s release plans.

According to our source, Samsung intends to sell the regular Gear S2 model for just about $350. The Gear S2 classic, with its attractive knurled bezel ring, should sell at a $50 premium, going for $400.

For those of you interested in a more autonomous smartwatch experience, the 3G-connected Gear S2 will also sell for $400.

We’re still waiting for confirmation about a release date, but this new pricing info still goes a long way towards filling in the blanks surrounding the start of Gear S2 sales.
