Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6: Should you upgrade?

How long do you keep your phone? Do you upgrade every year? Two years? More?

Samsung’s focus for the Galaxy S7 was to refine the Galaxy S6, and replace some features we missed from the Galaxy S5. Both phones are built out of metal and glass. Both phones feature AMOLED displays. Lifestyle hardware elements like heart rate monitors and fingerprint sensors are roughly in the same places. The Galaxy S7 didn’t even switch over to a USB C port.

Yet for all their similarities, Samsung has brought back IP68 water resistance, packed in a larger battery while reducing the overall form factor, and the camera is taking a risk by reducing the resolution. Also, what about audio? Is the S7 an improvement over last year’s phone for music and podcast listeners?

The Galaxy S7 is one of the most appealing phones of the year, but also one of the most expensive. Are these improvements enough to convince S6 owners to take the plunge on a one year upgrade? Here’s our full Galaxy S7 vs Galaxy S6 comparison video.
