Prepare to have your mind blown by the durability of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active

By Adrian Diaconescu June 13, 2016, 8:30 am

In case you’re still wondering what’s the point of an Active take on a flagship Samsung phone capable of withstanding water interaction, a nifty drop test video comparing the ruggedness of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Active provides the ultimate answer.

The AT&T-exclusive 5.1-inch beast is nowhere near as pretty, stylish and slim as the base GS7, but it’s so much tougher that you could realistically call it unbreakable. It’s practically impossible to accidentally destroy the Galaxy S7 Active, no matter how many times it comes in contact with the hardest surfaces known to man.

Incredibly enough, you may find it tricky to smash the outdoors-friendly handheld even if you absolutely want to do it harm, as PhoneBuff’s drop testing experts just discovered. The GS7 Active not only obliterates the standard S7 in a side-by-side back dive on concrete, also maintaining its physical integrity after over 50 plunges face down.

The Droid Turbo 2 is no longer the world’s singular shatterproof phone, as whatever Samsung applied on top of S7’s otherwise decently durable Gorilla Glass 4, it works like a charm. Meanwhile, you should expect scratches and scuffs on the S7 Active’s frame and rear if you occasionally drop it, but nothing too extreme.
