If Samsung Galaxy S III owners were jealous because of the slightly increased specs on the Galaxy Note II — the fastest Android phone on Planet at the moment — they will have one more reason to be jealous: the Samsung Galaxy S III α (Alpha), at a tie for the title. The classic (global) S III which we all know packs 1GB of RAM and an Exynos quad 4412 chip that runs at 1.4GHz while the Note II was released with 2GB of RAM and a 4412 Exynos quad SoC clocking at 1.6GHz.

In Japan, carrier NTT DoCoMo is now offering the Samsung Galaxy S III Alpha which packs the exact same specs as the Note II, which means 2GB of RAM and the faster, 1.6GHz 4412 Exynos quad chip. While the rest of us with Galaxy S III devices are still waiting for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the S III Alpha has that out of the box. Don’t you wish US variants packed the 4412 quad and LTE instead of the dual-core Snapdragon?
