Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch to happen earlier than expected?

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 launch might not happen at IFA 2015. The Berlin International Radio Show is where Samsung has been historically announcing its phablet device (lately, devices, since the Note 4 came in pair with the Note Edge), but this year, there seems to be an exception from the rule, if this recent Wall Street Journal report is to be believed.

The publication cites a “person familiar with the matter” (so keep your skeptical hat on) who claims that Samsung is allegedly moving the announcement date several weeks forward, somewhere to mid-August, which, could very well be a month, a month and a bit, from now. The reasons behind such a move, according to the same report, would be Samsung’s intentions of giving the phone (of phones, if the Galaxy S6 Edge Pro/Plus rumors are true) some breathing room before Apple announces its 2015 line-up (the events are historically held beginning of September, which would coincide with IFA 2015).

Based on last year’s experience, when the iPhone 6 Plus was announced days after the Note 4 (and went on sale days before the Samsung phablet), the South Koreans might need to find a solution (this one, reportedly), to counter Apple’s moves.
