We just can’t catch a break around these parts, with almost every single day of the week having been dominated with new product announcements. We’ve had the DROID Turbo, Oppo N3, Oppo R5, and Microsoft Band go official so far, and now we’re getting our next major official news tidbit of the week: the impressively-thin Samsung Galaxy A5 and A3 are now officially official.

The two phones offer a “refined, trendy design,” harkening to the Samsung Galaxy Alpha with the use of a premium-looking metal unibody. They’re available in a variety of colors as well, supporting Samsung’s “optimized for social networking” advertising of the devices.

The phones are also ridiculously thin. Not as thin as the Oppo R5, which had to forgo a headphone jack to reach its level of slimness, but sleek enough to be the thinnest phones Samsung has ever made. The A5 weighs in with a thickness of 6.7mm, the A3 at 6.9mm.

Both, as noted previously, are meant to be social media warriors. And that, in this day and age, is just about equivalent to “captures selfies well.” With the 5MP front-facers on both, you’ll have no trouble catering to your self portrait needs, and you’ll be able to share them on your favorite social media networks for all to appreciate your narcissism.

The two Androids are definitely mid-rangers, however, despite how premium the bodies may look. The A5 offers a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, but actually picks up the slack with a 13MP rear-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, and a 2,300 mAh battery.

The A3 offers the same processor, but shaves the specs considerably, presumably to reach a lower price point. All of the specs above but the processor have been downgraded, essentially.

Samsung’s Galaxy A5 and A3 will be available in select markets, including China, next month. Anyone interested?
