Samsung foldable smartphone
[alert variation=”alert-danger” dismiss=”dismiss”]Update: According to the Korea Herald, Samsung’s mobile chief Koh Dong-jin took a step back from the remarks he did at CES regarding foldable phones this year. He said that “it is difficult to talk about the date of the launch now. We want to unveil the products properly but now seems a bit early,” but reassured everyone that the company is working hard on the matter [/alert]

A Samsung foldable smartphone has been in the news and rumors for quite some time; however, the tech might only be there at the end of this year. If we’re all lucky, we’ll see a final Samsung foldable smartphone on the market in December 2018, or early 2019. Whether that’ll be a Note, a Galaxy, or a completely different family of devices is yet unknown.

The information that Samsung will start mass producing the foldable smartphone comes from industry sources cited by ETNews. The company, according to the report, is going to start development of the foldable displays by March, after which manufacturing of these panels is scheduled for September.

As far as the Samsung foldable smartphone is concerned, a 7.3-inch flexible OLED display is what we’ll see, one that folds inwards (like closing a book), according to the same sources. If perfected, the technology and the foldable smartphone itself will create a new breed of devices offering a completely new, and immersing user experience.
