Samsung Announces Omnia W Windows Phone

Falling just a little bit behind HTC’s announcement of the Radar and Titan wave-two Windows Phones, Samsung has just announced its own wave-two device, the Omnia W. It is a follow-up to the popular Omnia 7 phone launched in wave-one last year.

Needless to say that the phone is running Windows Phone 7.5 Mango! It packs a 1.4GHz single-core processor, 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display with WVGA resolution, 8GB Internal Storage, five-megapixel main camera with auto-focus and flash (720p 30fps video recording capable), and VGA front-facer. The phone measures 10.9mm in thickness, weighs 115.3 grams and comes pre-installed with Samsung applications like AllShare, Video Call, DLNA, a news reader and more.

According to reports, Samsung will debut the Omnia W first in Italy but other regions will be shortly added to the availability list. According to Samsung’s new device naming convention, the Omnia W is classified under the “Wonder” category, which stands for high-tier phones. We’re still expecting that “S” Windows Phone which will be Samsung’s flagship running the Redmond platform.
