Samsung and TSMC will build Apple’s A8 chip, or so they say
Even though Samsung and Apple are famous for all the rivalry that happens in the courts regarding its mobile offerings, that doesn’t change the fact that Samsung is Apple’s biggest partner in most of the silicone that runs Apple’s mobile devices. Samsung has once again claimed to be in-charge of building the new A8 chip that has already begun production according to rumors, but could it be that Samsung is not alone on this one?
Last week TSMC made it official that it was going to be in-charge of building the A8 chip for Apple, and it doesn’t seem that Apple will ever clarify what company will be in-charge. Apple is never famous for actually calling anything as other than “Apple made” so it could be that Cupertino is expecting a significant boost in production to require as many as two manufacturers for the technology.
At this point we only know that the chip is being manufactured, but we still don’t have specifics on the changes. Hopefully Apple can wow us with more than just the 64-bit number in its processor capacity.
