You could pile in line at your local Apple store next Friday to get a new iPhone 7… and also risk being stuck for hours in the mall all for naught because some poor Apple Genius has to be the one to tell the line to “go home, there’s no more today and we don’t know when we’ll get more.”

Well, in some areas, you won’t be able to make a reservation to pick one up at an Apple Store. No skipping the line for you.

Apple has shut down the ability to “Reserve and Pick Up” in the US as well as the UK and Italy. Reservations will begin again on September 17 at 8am local time in the US, 6am locally in Britain and Italy. Other territories have various availability of reservations, depending on model.

“Reserve and Pick Up” allows customers to reserve an iPhone at a local Apple Store. The customer pays for the device and pick it up within an half-hour timeframe.
