Early 2019, spring 2019, and first half of 2019. Those timeframes were all used to describe the launch of the Apple AirPods 2. When it will actually happen is unknown. Your guess is as good as ours. But as we get closer and closer to that unknown date, more and more rumors are trying to anticipate what Apple will bring to the table.

The most recent rumor suggests that the AirPods 2 will look “largely identical” like the first generation AirPods. However, a new coating could improve grip, and the rumor suggests better audio quality by improving the bass. That anti-grip coating has started to make its way into the 2019 iPhone rumors as well, suggesting the higher-end iPhone might feature it.

In addition to the improved audio quality and wireless charging, the AirPods 2 are also expected to have extra health-related sensors. These could be used for heart-rate monitoring. And, as a novelty, two colors are suggested by the report for the earbuds: black and white.

As usual with these reports, treat them accordingly, with a healthy dose of skepticism, until the announcement has been made.
