The relentless momentum behind these red Nexus 5 rumors thunders ahead this week, already bringing us a whole bunch of pics – both of the phone’s packaging and the handset itself – as well as an idea of when sales of the smartphone could eventually begin. As we wait for next week to see if those rumors of a February 4 launch are correct, this afternoon brings us one more sign of the phone’s existence, with the first press render of the red Nexus 5 leaking.

After those great shots on Monday, this doesn’t really add anything new, but for any of you who might have been doubting just what we saw back then, this may help convince you.

Like the white Nexus 5, this red model’s color extends to the handset’s earpiece grille, but unlike that previous edition, this time the alternate color also spreads to cover the phone’s edges.

While the initial “leak” that got this red Nexus 5 business started has been debunked, and the red option it revealed was far more maroon than what we get here, we can’t help but wonder if there really could be additional Nexus 5 color options in the works, or if this red guy is going to be all we get.
