Back when the HTC One launched, a little less than three months ago, the company’s website revealed a red version of the handset alongside the black and white options with which we’ve since become familiar. It didn’t take long for that red version to vanish, but not before it burned a spot in our minds; when would we get to see this smartphone again? Surely, HTC wouldn’t have an image of the phone in red prepared for its site if it wasn’t planning on doing something with it? As we wait for official word of the return of the red HTC One, it’s popping-up in the listings for one smartphone retailer.

The UK’s Handtec lists the red HTC One, unlocked, for what works out to about $650. What we have to wonder, though, is if this listing might be just as unintentional as when HTC was showing the red One itself. For instance, it’s marked as out of stock, and the pricing doesn’t really line up with the other One color options; if anything, we’d expect the red version to be slightly more expensive, but instead Handtec has it just a bit cheaper. As such, we’re not giving this a whole lot of faith that it could be a sign of imminent availability for the red HTC One.

Still, we hold out hope that the red One will be available sooner or later. This may not be how it arrives, but that day could still come.
