More BlackBerry tidbits: BBM update, bad news for PlayBook

The BlackBerry quarterly earnings call to investors is giving us more than just raw numbers on how the BB10 launch has been going, and we also get a few updates on other aspects of BlackBerry news. Unfortunately, just like those sales figures themselves, there are some more upsets in store here.

Now BlackBerry’s going back on that promise, and it won’t be bringing BB10 to the tablet. The company blames issues with reliability for stymieing its efforts to develop the update.

At least some of its plans are still on the table: BlackBerry assures us that its cross-platform Android and iOS ports of BlackBerry Messenger are still on track for a release later this summer.
