Plants vs. Zombies is huge, moving from home computers, to the iPhone and iPad, to Xbox Live and even the Nintendo DS. Other smartphone users may understandably feel left out (though a WP7 version is in the works), and while we don't have any good news for the BlackBerry crowd, Android users can look forward to a port of the game coming out by the end of June, according to developer PopCap.

If you're not familiar with the title, it's a real-time strategy game of the tower defense variety, pitting your plant defenders against swarms of zombie invaders. The zombies want to make their way across the screen, and it's up to you and your carefully chosen and arranged garden to get in their way. As you progress, you'll get the ability to choose from more and more plant types, some defensive, some offensive. When your resources improve, though, you'll face zombies with new abilities to help them penetrate your defenses.

The game's a great fit for a touch-screen interface, part of what's made it so appealing on mobile devices. We'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this one in the Android Market.
