Last week, we found ourselves intrigued by rumors of a heavyweight new Pantech Android in the works, the Pantech Vega Iron. It was supposed to have a great full HD screen with no noticeable bezel, and hardware specs that would put it on equal footing with the 1080p phones from the major Android players. With a rumored launch date of April 18, it was clear we’d be getting the full story on these claims quite soon, whether all the details ended up confirmed or not. As we close in on that date, some possible images of the Vega Iron have arrived for us to check out.

We’ve got to say – this is an interesting look for a smartphone. There’s an odd little cutout in the upper-right corner that’s very weird, reminding us of the HTC Rhyme and its charm; presumably, users will attach something like a lanyard here.

What about the bezel? Sure enough, there’s hardly one noticeable in the renders, though that might be cheating a little, since there’s still a bit of border around the face, forming the phone’s edge. That may detract from the novelty a little, but we’ll live.

Now we just have to wait for this puppy to go official, and maybe even get word of the possibility for it ever going up for sale outside South Korea.
