A little earlier this week, we talked about the rumored ASUS PadFone 2, the sequel to the manufacturer’s unique smartphone-powered docking-tablet design (above). What really caught our eye were the benchmark results for this device, which revealed the presence of one of Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon S4 quad-core SoCs. We speculated that it still might be several months before we got official word of the PadFone 2, but it looks like things could be moving much more swiftly for the device, as ASUS has already started sending out save-the-dates for a PadFone 2 event.

ASUS is actually working on a pair events, both taking place in a little under a month on October 16. One will be set in Milan, Italy, while the other is to occur in Taipei, Taiwan.

We don’t have the exact details on when each is scheduled, so we can’t say if this is an ambitious attempt at a simultaneous launch, but however things go down, we should be getting the full story on this new ASUS tablet/phone in just a few weeks.
