OPPO already has a Neo 5 smartphone from 2014, but the OPPO Neo 5 announced today is the official follow-up, the 2015 model, and it comes in pair with a Neo 5s sibling. The company emphasizes the double-layer metallic structure build of the phones, with a compact and thin form factor. The back cover is laminated with “a clean and natural, yet striking appearance with beautiful shine”.

Inside there’s an unspecified quad-core MTK processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage (expandable up to 32GB via microSD card), dual-sim capabilities, 8MP camera with rear-illuminated sensor and F/2.2 aperture (yes, the back looks very Xperia Z-ish), and a 2,000mAh battery.

The Neo 5s on the other hand has a better processor: an unnamed Qualcomm quad-core Snapdragon 64-bit processor, support for 128GB storage cards, as well as what the press release calls “an exclusive ColorOS eye protection system has been developed, filtering out the blue light, creating a soothing screen display that is easy on the eyes for enhanced health benefits”.
