OPPO licenses Qualcomm patents in China

With patent disputes piling on and on throughout the years, here’s a respite courtesy of Qualcomm and OPPO.

OPPO has licensed Qualcomm’s 3G and 4G technology patents for use in China, which means that we’ll see a whole bunch of Snapdragon processors in future devices.

Qualcomm laid patent infringement complaints against competitor Meizu about a month ago in Beijing and Shanghai intellectual property courts. The moves were part of a bid to get the manufacturer back at the table negotiating license terms.

Details have yet to appear about the processor on OPPO’s next major release, the F1s. That said, Qualcomm’s presence in China will be expanded with the inclusion of its silicon in one of the biggest smartphone manufacturers in China.
