Move over, Samsung! Move over, HTC! You may have caught plenty of headlines for releasing phones that borrowed a little (or some would say, a lot) from Apple’s designs for the iPhone 6, 6S, and their corresponding Plus editions, but now it’s Oppo’s turn to face judgment for a smartphone that hits some very familiar (and very Apple-y) notes, as we check out some pics that just leaked of a currently unidentified in-development handset.

From the gold color, to those stripes, to the rear-mounted headphone jack and even that distinctive speaker grille, it’s hard to deny that the components we’re seeing here have some substantial similarities with Apple hardware. Even the camera placement largely mirrors the iPhone 6’s layout, and while there are a few differences (like with flash orientation), take a quick glimpse at the rear of this phone from across the room and we’d forgive you for thinking you were looking at one of Apple’s phones.

Before you start going and coming down too hard on Oppo, keep in mind that it’s very much just following the trend right now, and from the Galaxy S6 to the One A9, we’ve seen plenty of 2015 Androids that have turned to Apple’s handsets for design leadership. We don’t know if that makes things right, but it’s hardly alone here.

Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery, the result of some designers getting lazy, or just good business sense?
