This past summer, fans of ultra-thin smartphones were teased by the launch of the Oppo Finder, a 4.3-inch dual-core Android that measured a mere 6.65 millimeters thick. The latest Oppo model to catch our attention isn’t quite so fantastically thin, but the 6.9 millimeter thick Oppo Find 5 more than makes up for that with its impressive hardware specs. Today, some new photos arrive showing-off the Find 5 in the flesh.

Like the just-announced HTC J Butterfly, the Oppo Find 5 features a new five-inch full-HD 1080p display. It also shares the same choice for an SoC to drive all those pixels, with a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro, and has the same 2GB of RAM.

In fact, what we know about the Find 5, on paper at least, appears to meet or exceed all of those HTC specs, upping main camera resolution to twelve megapixels. While the HTC gets a 2020mAh battery, the Find 5 bumps things up to 2500mAh. That’s what makes Oppo’s effort all the more impressive, as the HTC J Butterfly is a chunky-sounding 9.1 millimeters thick, even with the benefit of a smaller battery.

Excited yet? Unfortunately, for now there’s no word of plans for the Find 5 to launch outside of China, but we’re hoping it does, because at only $480, it sounds like an absolute steal.

Update: Too good to be true? Our eagle-eyed readers have pointed-out some inconsistencies with these pics and the accompanying specs. We’ll wait to see if official word on the phone arrives, but for now, maybe we shouldn’t be getting our hopes up.
