OnePlus teases news for next week; new hardware incoming?

It was April 23 of last year when OnePlus had its big launch announcement for the OnePlus One. And with the one-year anniversary of that news coming up on us fast, it’s little surprise we’ve been talking a bunch about plans for a follow-up to the that model. With multiple reports talking about Q3 (if not slightly later), though, we were all ready to be waiting for quite a while before the OnePlus 2 would be making its own debut. But could it actually land far sooner than anticipated, much closer to that one-year mark? That’s what everyone’s asking this afternoon, as OnePlus teases an announcement for Monday, April 20.

In sharing the date OnePlus notes that “anything could happen,” and it seems to really mean anything – the company falls far short of directly teasing the OnePlus 2. So while on first glance a OnePlus 2 launch might be the obvious target of this invite, this could easily be something quite different.

A wearable, perhaps? The idea’s been suggested before, but like the OnePlus 2 itself, we just don’t have much in the way of evidence suggesting one way or another what this could be. Then again, considering the degree to which we’ve found ourselves misled by some recent OnePlus teasers, maybe that that’s for the best.

Check back with us on Monday to learn what OnePlus had to reveal.
