The OnePlus 6T did REALLY well in the US and India this holiday…

OnePlus has grown its visibility in the United States to levels unimaginable for any other Chinese smartphone maker.

It had an agreement with T-Mobile for the network to carry its OnePlus 6T this past holiday season. But it has also been able to command a strong presence in the premium unlocked market for a region that predominantly sticks with carriers when it comes to buying phones.

It’s with that background that the company has pointed to an IDC finding that OnePlus was one of the five top smartphone brands in the $500-plus range for the fourth quarter.

Furthermore, Counterpoint Research noted that OnePlus has notched its third quarter in a row leading the Indian premium smartphone market with a 36 percent share.

While the impulsive comparison in that case would be to Xiaomi’s value flagship Pocophone F1 — naturally, some would point to Xiaomi’s overall domination in the Indian smartphone market — keep in mind that the F1’s price point falls below the Rs. 30,000 premium threshold that the OnePlus 6T reaches.

OnePlus is really competing more with the likes of Apple and even Huawei. And given how the iPhone’s holiday season has been, OnePlus probably saw an extra boost to its growth this time around.
