By Anton D. Nagy May 17, 2011, 8:16 am

Regardless if you are sending or receiving money online via Western Union, if you are always on the go or don't want to spend time at the counter, you can now transfer on-the-go using the just released official Western Union application for iPhone.

Currently only available on iOS devices, Western Union is planning on releasing an Android and BlackBerry version too for those who want to transfer money. "Any customer with an iPhone <...> can send money anytime, anywhere, which can be picked up in minutes at any of our 400,000 Western Union Agent locations in 200 countries and territories. This technological innovation not only allows a customer to easily move money from one location to another, but opens our money-transfer services to a whole new generation of customers", said Hikmet Ersek, Western Union President and CEO.

The application will debut in the U.S. but it will expand to additional markets in the future, with users being able to use their phones to send money transfers to mobile "wallets" in the Philippines, Kenya and other mobile wallet providers in select countries.
