Our readers are generally a pretty savvy bunch when it comes to smartphones and tablets, doing their homework and knowing just what to look for (and what to avoid) when they finally go shopping for a new device. Not everyone’s so on top of things, though, and based on some of the Black Friday circulars retailers are just now making available, shoppers could find themselves navigating a wasteland of no-name devices.

Kmart’s Black Friday ad just surfaced online, and it’s practically a Who’s (not) Who of Android brands you’ve never heard of. That’s right: you’ll find devices from 4Sight, Maylong, X-treme, and more! At least Kmart has the courtesy to throw in one Samsung model, the Galaxy Discover, but that’s the exception that proves the rule.

Why are we even talking about this, if you already know better than pick up one of these models? Don’t be surprised if some well-meaning (if not a little naïve) relative remembered that you’re into tablets, and thinks a nine-inch no-name model for under $100 sounds like a great way to surprise you. You might want to start practicing your ability to feign interest already.
