Android Nougat is out, but some major features like the Nexus Launcher, Google Assistant and more are expected in a Maintenance Release this fall. Google’s inviting developers to continue submitting issue tickets as they find and re-tread bugs so that it can fix them up in time for a supposed developer preview for MR1.

Well, turns out that if you do happen to report an issue in the Android Developer Console, you’ll be able to filter down reports for a version 7.1. Other sources are claiming that user statistics reports are showing a significant minority of users on Android 7.1.

We don’t know if the developer preview is already out for the Maintenance Release or if that Release will mark the jump up to 7.1 and an API change to level 25 — that’ll likely mark the introduction of the Google Assistant to the interface.

One redditor floated the possibility of Android O getting its first spoilage, but we have no chips on that spot. As of now, we’ll stick to near-term possibilities.
