Leaked Nokia codenames: more James Bond, constellations, and minerals

Nokia just introduced its latest batch of Windows Phone models a couple weeks back, welcoming the first of its models that will ship running Windows Phone 8.1. The Lumia 630/635 we’ve been following since we first heard its codename Moneypenny back in November of last year. Now that it’s official, what are we to look forward to from Nokia next? As luck would have it, a crop of new codenames has arrived fresh off the leak wagaon, and from the look of things Nokia is up to its old habits.

According to @evlekas, new Nokia codenames include Ara, Leo, Moonraker, Onyx, Peridot, Superman, Tesla, and Vantage.

Moonraker is the clearest of the “Bond series” codenames (Moneypenny, Goldfinger) up there, but we’d wager that Vantage counts as well, referencing the Aston Martin vehicle. Onyx and Peridot align with earlier codename Spinel, and Leo fits with names we’ve heard before like Orion and Pegasus. Granted, none of this does much to tell us just what sort of hardware we’re looking at, but at least Nokia’s being consistent with its naming patterns.

On a related note, @evleaks also shares the news that the model we’ve heard teased as the Nokia Monarch for T-Mobile is likely to be the carrier’s version of the Lumia 635.
