Nokia N95 (US) Firmware Update Now Available

Nokia just released a new firmware upgrade to the North American version of the N95. It’s hard to tell what has changed after installing, but it looks like the Messaging app can now see text messages saved on the SIM card. It can’t open or reply to these messages, but it can copy them into the regular Inbox. I see no way of copying messages in the phone’s memory onto the SIM card however.

Since installing the firmware, I had to re-sync my PIM info. The Nokia PC Suite still does not sync my Outlook 2007 Calendar, but instead of presuming to be successful and letting the N95’s calendar crash on me, the software now returns an uninformative error indicating that the sync has failed. If I shut off Calendar syncing, I am able to sync my contacts as before (which is good). I guess I’ll just have to install Mail for Exchange again.

To download the update, you can use the “Software Update” program in the Nokia PC Suite.
