Nokia N9, Lumia 800 Camera Performance Updates In The Works
We all know that Nokia is known for the attention it gives to the cameras in its smartphones. Apparently, though, not everyone who bought themselves a new Lumia 800 is singing the praises for that model’s camera. According to some recent Twitter posts by Nokia’s Damian Dinning, a software update is in the works that should hopefully bump-up image quality for both the Lumia 800, as well as its cousin, the N9.
Details on just what improvements may be in store aren’t yet available. The reports of Lumia 800 quality problems that we’ve seen indicate that it should theoretically be possible for Nokia to tweak the camera’s performance with just such an update; the problems its facing have been with things like color rendition and compression that are controllable via software, rather than something that’s the result of a physical trait of the sensor and its lenses, and couldn’t easily be corrected.
So, no promises on when you might hope to see either of these camera updates arrive, but it’s certainly something to keep in mind for N9 and Lumia 800 owners.
