Nokia MWC event invites go out; what can we expect?

By Stephen Schenck January 23, 2014, 11:41 am

We’ve got a month and a day to go before the Mobile World Congress is officially underway. You had better believe that you’ll be hearing a whole lot more about what to expect in the weeks to come, but today we start things off with an early press event announcement, as Nokia shares news of a press conference scheduled for Monday, February 24. What will the company likely be bringing along to share?

Well, we’ve already heard a couple Nokia MWC rumors, like how it might mark the launch of a Lumia 1820 metal-bodied handset or a Lumia 2020 eight-inch tablet – despite earlier rumors doubting that such tablet plans would move forward.
There’s also talk of a couple new 1520 variants, including a possible “mini” version, and we still have to see the arrival of the Lumia 630 and 635.

But the biggest news could be Normandy. The latest leak sure did seem to imply a February 25 launch, and with this event scheduled for the day before – well, this just might really be happening. Is the world ready for an Android Nokia – even one that doesn’t particularly look or feel like an Android device? We could be finding out in just one more month.
