Now that the Nokia Lumia 830 is official as a supposed high-end smartphone for a low-end price, it’s time to start comparing it to phones we already have recognized as true flagships in our full reviews. First up on our list of comparisons, the Lumia 930 / Icon, which we reviewed and called the best Windows Phones to date at the time. Now it’s time to compare the battle-worn soldier to the new kid on the block, in Nokia Lumia 830 vs Nokia Lumia 930 / Icon.

This result is disappointing, but most definitely an expected outcome. The Lumia 830 loses out in everything, so if you have the extra cash, we suggest ponying up for the Lumia 930 / Icon – it’ll be getting the update to Lumia Denim and all of the cool new apps too, anyway. When it comes to the display, the 830’s 720p panel loses out to the superior 1080p unit found on the 930. Moving onward to the processor speed, the 930 is a full gigahertz faster. The RAM and storage are double what you get on the 830 if you buy the 930, and so is the camera megapixel count. The front-facing camera and battery are modestly better on the 930, but overall, this is a pretty bad pounding.
