Nokia World is finally happening in Abu Dhabi, and it’s great to see that the company’s new products got announced in time before a competing company stole their thunder. Let’s begin with the first-ever Windows Phone phablet to hit the market, the Nokia Lumia 1520. The device is now official, and the device is more than just huge when it comes to news, and size.

The Lumia 1520 is also the most powerful Windows Phone to ever be announced. As expected, it is a big phone, with a 6-inch 1080p display, which is already bigger than the HTC One max that we recently had a chance to review. It’s being powered by quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage with microSD-expandable storage up to an additional 64GB, stereo audio capture, a 3,400 mAH battery, Qi wireless charging, etc. It’ll include a 20-megapixel camera, with a BSI f/2.4 Zeiss lens, optical image stabilization, and oversampling of photos as we see in the Lumia 1020, though obviously at a smaller scale. Now, those of you that didn’t like the glossy design of the Lumia 920 will be disappointed, as the yellow variant that Stephen Elop demoed was shiny all around.

When it comes to software, the device will run Windows Phone 8 GDR3 with the extra row of live-tiles that we heard of recently. It’ll also run Instagram and Vine, and no, I didn’t get that wrong, Instagram and Vine are coming to this device first, and reaching existing phones in the coming weeks according to Nokia. There are also additional Storyteller and Beamer apps included for location-tagged media and screen grabbing features.

The device will have an unlocked starting price of $750, though you can also get it exclusively on AT&T with an undisclosed subsidy. Stay tuned for its official launch, and obviously our full review.
