Nokia Has No Plans For Using Android or Windows Phone

Rumors around the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer Nokia adopting Windows Mobile or Phone were coming and going over the past couple of months starting as early as Windows Mobile 6.5 going all the way to Windows Phone 7.

Some were ecstatic and some were disregarding the rumors but this time we seem to get a somewhat solid confirmation – that is, denial – coming from a Nokia official. Niklas Savander, Nokia’s executive vice president and general manager for Markets told CNet Asia, in an interview, that they are not planning on introducing another platform after Symbian S60, Series 40 and MeeGo. “Currently, we don’t think the platforms out there which we are not using–Android and Microsoft–offers an incremental opportunity for us to add value that would sustain a competitive advantage over somebody else. So, no plans” he said. Whether Android and Windows Phone 7 would benefit from Nokia built hardware with their many years of experience and reliability is up to you to comment below!
