Nokia Announces Symbian Anna Update For N8, E7, C7 And C6-01
It looked like Nokia was nearly ready to start sending out Symbian Anna updates to some of its smartphones yesterday, prepping its servers with the software for N8 and E7 models. We wondered, though, what about the C7 and C6-01? All four Symbians were supposed to be getting Anna sometime before the end of the month. Well, we’ve got good news for owners of those handsets, as well, with Nokia confirming the update is now available for all four smartphones.
Symbian fans may already have their sights set on Belle, but those who haven’t yet gotten a chance to use Anna will appreciate getting their first chance to try out the redesigned user interface. Web browsing under Anna should see some decent performance gains, and apps like Nokia Maps will find themselves receiving some new features.
The Anna update will arguably have the greatest impact on the C7, where the software includes code to finally make the smartphone’s NFC abilities go active.
If you aren’t seeing any OTA update available just yet, try hooking your Nokia up to a PC running the company’s Ovi Suite, where you should be able to manually get things started. If you’re still out of luck, the update may not quite be ready for your area just yet.
In addition to announcing the availability of these Symbian Anna updates, Nokia commented on its future plans for Symbian, revealing plans to introduce an additional ten smartphones by this time next year.
