HTC has had a legacy relationship with Windows, but it’s been a dry one as of late. The One M8 for Windows came in about 16 months ago with Windows Phone 8.1 and we haven’t heard anything in terms of updates to Windows 10 Mobile. But we know which HTC Windows device won’t be getting the OTA update.

HTC UK tweeted out in delicate terms that the HTC 8X won’t be updated for now. Many variables are still up in the air: is it just the UK units? What about the special 8XT (pictured above)? Will the company get around to it at all? What about the One M8? None of these questions went answered.

It’s important to note that the 8X came out some 39 months ago, well past typical official device support periods. The original Nexus 5 got its Android Marshmallow update at month 23 of its life.

This should be no surprise — though it won’t stop 8X fans from deserting HTC, they say.
