Nexus Launcher looks to be rebadged as Pixel Launcher [UPDATE: APK]

It seems that the oddity that was the Nexus Launcher is no more. Or, as leaker @LlabTooFeR would say “Don’t know anything about Nexus Launcher… There is only Pixel launcher…”

The original launcher, thought to take better advantage of Google Assistant features and to differentiate the upcoming so-called Pixel (neé Nexus) phones, had its .apk leak last month.

In the app information section, the Nexus Launcher’s app version prefix code referred to Android Nougat Maintenance Release 1, — the two HTC-made devices were thought to released with that software update — along with a suffix of “3063178”. The Pixel Launcher app now has a suffix of “7.1,” referring to the Android version number that has been rumored to label that Maintenance Release. The first two digits of the suffix are “32”.

All major user interface features of the Nexus Launcher have been carried over to the Pixel Launcher, including the Google lozenge and weird date orientation and a revised app drawer design with instant search access.

Update: Here’s an unofficial download mirror for the Pixel Launcher.
