The champions of brand dilution and product confusion will probably not strike again with a disorienting One X9 hero, nor might they look to continue their now traditional high-end naming scheme with a One M10.

Another semi-reliable Twitter tipster joins the speculation games to adamantly refute the M10 moniker, which may not sound very important, but most likely suggests a long overdue redesign of HTC flagships. Hopefully, the O2 (or however the Taiwanese OEM will designate its early 2016 Android spearhead) won’t take many aesthetical cues from the One A9 either.

What seems set in stone is the use of the just-unveiled Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, a “hot” flagship SoC that everybody envisions eclipsing the SD810’s raw speed while keeping energy consumption in check and excelling at heat diffusion.

Of course, HTC was one of the device manufacturers that gambled on a glitchy 810 silicon earlier this year due to lack of a backup option, so its commitment to the Qualcomm partnership doesn’t necessarily mean the SD820 is all stable.

Previously, the Italian journalist that today supplies us with the vague inside information on the mysterious next-gen HTC flagship hinted April 2016 was the targeted release timeframe, but unfortunately, little else is known on the specification front.

You have to figure a Quad HD display is in the pipeline this time around, alongside 4GB RAM, a different metallic construction, Marshmallow software, and 3,000+ mAh battery. But we’ll see in a few months.
