Two days ago, Google went official with the 2013 version of its Nexus 7 tablet, introducing new hardware with a full HD display, among other improvements. At the time Google was crystal-clear about initial launch details: the 16GB and 32GB WiFi-only versions of the new Nexus 7 would first go up for sale on Tuesday, July 30, arriving simultaneously at the Google Play Store and brick-and-mortar retailers. At least, that was the plan, but it now appears that more than a few of these stores are selling new Nexus 7 stock already.

It’s not crazy unusual to learn about some lucky soul talking his or her way into an unreleased smartphone a few days before sales are formally supposed to begin, but it’s mostly a case of an isolated incident or two – not this time.

Early Nexus 7 sales have been confirmed at Best Buy and Walmart retail stores – it may not be every store, but it’s more than just one rebel store. Best Buy is also already shipping pre-orders of the tablet, which could arrive before July 30. Similarly, Amazon is selling the tablet now, and with the right shipping option, it could be in you hands by Monday.

So if you just can’t wait, try your luck at Best Buy or Walmart. There’s no sign yet of early sales at any of the other retailers set to carry the tablet.
