Apple’s invites for next Tuesday’s event are out, and unless we’ve been totally reading this all wrong, a shiny new iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 are likely to make their debuts. We won’t deny that it’s great to get that confirmation out of the way (so we’re not sitting around through another no-show, as developed with today’s Nexus 5 rumors), but there are still more iPad dates to uncover: even if these guys launch on October 22, when would Apple actually make the pair available for sale. We’ve heard one theory making the rounds today, but not everyone’s so sure it’s worth believing.

According to a source known to French site MacG, both the new iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 could go up for sale on October 30 or 31.

That’s in the general sort of timeframe we’d expect, but it’s still a little off when compared to Apple’s moves in the past. For instance, when the iPad 4 and first mini launched last year on October 23 – that was also a Tuesday – the hardware wasn’t available until Friday, a week later. Similarly, when the iPad 3 launched, sales of the tablet began on the Friday of the following week. October 30 and 31 fall closer to mid-week, as Wednesday and Thursday.

Maybe Apple’s mixing things up this year and breaking from this Friday pattern. Maybe this source simply got his or her dates wrong. So far, we haven’t heard any other leaks from Apple’s retail chain to corroborate, but something may come around before the announcement.
