All new HTC One already dominating benchmarks

No more counting the days until the arrival of the all new HTC One; right now, we’re counting hours. And in just about 23 of them, we’re going to see the phone ushered-in officially as HTC’s latest flagship. We’ll be on the floor in NYC, bringing you the latest updates as they arrive. By the looks of things, we still might have some last-minute surprises arriving to keep this last day of rumors interesting, like that new hands-on video we shared with you overnight. The latest to catch our eye are some all new One benchmarks, painting the picture of an utter powerhouse.

Right now, over at Rightware’s Power Board, there’s a new winner for the best score in both the Basemark X gaming benchmark, as well as the Basemark OS II overall benchmark: the new One. Granted, it’s not a world removed from its competition, just barely eking past second place to secure the top spot in OS II, but its gaming score is a little more secure.

It’s also not an across-the-board sweep: the new One only managed to come in seventh in the Browsermark test, flanked by the Xperia Z1 and the old Nexus 4, but even in light of that stumble, the overall picture we get here is that of a solidly high-end performer to which we’ll probably be comparing other smartphones for a long time to come.
