A couple months ago, we heard about the Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE, an Android supposedly in the works for Sprint as a follow-up to last year’s Photon 4G. At the time we had little to go on but the name, which suggested the handset may arrive as a QWERTY slider. Now, a mysterious pic of an unknown Motorola slider has surfaced, and it appears to be on its way to Sprint; could this be the very same Photon Q 4G LTE?

The angular styling of this model is certainly evocative of the original Photon 4G, but unlike that model, this pure ICS device exchanges its capacitive Android buttons for on-screen versions. We can also see that the landscape-orientation slider conceals a five-row key layout, but we’re still largely at a loss when it comes to details on the phone’s hardware. We thought the Photon Q might end up sporting a 720p screen, but there’s already speculation that the component in this picture is only qHD.

It’s definitely unusual to see a Motorola QWERTY slider that’s not available on Verizon, but considering that the carrier saw both the Droid 3 and Droid 4 arrive in just seven months’ time, maybe it’s due for a break. For the moment, there’s no word on just when this handset might hope to see an official launch; hopefully, we’ll hear some more about what this model’s hardware capabilities might be in the meantime.
