First image of Moto X colored backplates arrives

Just a little earlier this afternoon, we heard some rumors that answered the outstanding questions we had concerning the nature of the user customization that will be available for the Motorola Moto X. Rather than giving customers the ability to change any of the phone’s technical specs, Motorola is instead rumored to be giving them the choice between rear panel and trim options, in a number of colors. Now we’re already getting what seems to be our first look at a few of the shades that will be available.

According to the source that provided the above image, Motorola will be offering the Moto X with at least sixteen different color options; that leaves the door open for more, though, and we’ve heard rumors placing the total number closer to two dozen.

As near as we can tell, this is the real deal. The design shown is consistent both with images leaked back when we were calling this the X phone, as well as FCC documentation we’ve attributed to the handset.

So far, we’ve yet to get a look at any of the various colored trim options for the Moto X.

Update: Here’s one more.
