MMAppLauncher: Sweet Windows Mobile 6.x Start Menu Replacement

By Legacy September 30, 2010, 3:38 am

Maximus Mobile, from XDA-developers, released a sweet looking Start menu replacement for Windows Mobile 6.x today. MMAppLauncher can completely override your Start menu with what some believe to be a more productive system of menus. As you can see by the screen shots, a menu with a 5 button navigation bar at the bottom opens after launching MMAppLauncher via the Start menu. Each button on the nav bar takes you to a different menu within the Start menu replacement.

The first button, represented by a Home icon, opens up a screen with all your programs in a 4 column scrollable list of icons (default screen). The second button takes you to your recently used apps (maximum of 20), a handy feature that‘s missing from the default WM6.5 Start menu. The third houses favorite apps that can be assigned by tapping and holding on any icon in the programs list. MMAL also gives you the ability to run any process (“similar to Run under Windows”) with given arguments by navigating to the 4th menu. The last button leads you to all your familiar WinMo settings. As a bonus, MMAL let’s you modify any shortcut name and icon by tapping and holding them within the program.

The initial version of Maximus Mobile App Launcher is still in beta, so there may be bugs. It’s rather fluid and works well for a first release. Test it out by heading over to XDA-developers for the download. Report any bugs to the developer on the XDA thread linked above. Features and requirements listed below.
